One of the nice things about being a Cast Member at Walt Disney World is shopping at Cast Connections — a store where clothing closeouts, viagra canada and furnishings/accessories from resorts being refurbished, tadalafil etc. are sold.
I’ll never forget my first surprise encounter with Disney holiday decorations. I had gone to Cast Connections with my daughter (also a Cast Member) like we did on a regular basis. As we drove up, we saw a line of semi-trucks filled with decorations from all over property… being unloaded!
Inside, the huge warehouse-type room was already filled with totally decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and garlands…and, at ridiculous prices! Of my gosh! We looked at each other, our eyes got as big as saucers and shopping frenzy panic took us over. We made a mad dash to join the other frenzied shoppers and started picking up everything we could get.
Now, you have to understand that these decorations are from DISNEY WORLD, where everything is larger than life. The trees were 8’ to 20’ tall, the garlands were a foot in diameter and ??? long, and the wreaths were big enough to hold a family in the middle.
After our grabbing frenzy and our carts could hold no more, we made our way over to a corner to go through our treasures. We looked at each other and reality set in. My daughter could actually use some of these large size decorations because she had a two-story house. But I lived in a one-bedroom condo – come on, it’s not fair that I couldn’t use any of these decorations. How cool is it to have the holiday decorations that hung on Main Street or in the Grand Floridian?
The wreaths, of course, were out. They were wider than any doors we had. The beautifully decorated trees were out – too big. That left the garlands and miscellaneous decorated ‘hangings’ which we did purchase, and still have today.
Each year when I open my storage boxes of Christmas decorations and pull out my beautifully decorated greenery from Magic Kingdom and my garland from the Grand Floridian, I smile. I love my pieces of the Kingdom! I’m instantly transported to the day the trucks drove up to Cast Connections and my daughter and I survived our shopping frenzy…Disney style!
