Dapper Days at Disney

Thousands of people of all ages come “out in style” to attend special Dapper Day events at Walt Disney World. This year in early October Dapper Day took place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Dapper-Mindy-2015-SentinelDapper Day is a fan-created event where guests come to one of the Disney Parks in nice dress clothes from vintage-inspired to modern looks.

The first Dapper Day event was in 2011 at Disneyland Park in Anaheim when about 100 styling guests attended. It was the brain child of Justin Jorgensen. The twice-yearly event has now expanded to include Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris.

DapperDays2-2015-OSentinelAccording to Jorgensen, viagra try it’s like going through one of Bert’s chalk drawings in Mary Poppins when YOU add style to the Park experience. The make-believe vision for each park becomes more real when you’re dressed in the style of that time period (i.e., check Hollywood Studios heyday of 1930-1940’s). “The guests become the show. Strangers will talk to each other and the park becomes one big cocktail party–but with Dole Whip and churros instead of martinis.” Jorgensen describes.

Here are some of the looks from from Disney’s Hollywood Studios (photos from Orlando Sentinel and Disney Lifestylers). I think a Dapper Day event is the best day all year to visit Disney. It’s not as crowded as going during the holidays; and, it’s attended by people who share our passion for having fun . . . FUNatics!

F. G. Mama

About the author…F. G. Mama, Katie McDill, has been in love with Walt Disney World since first entering the gates in 1976. After her two kids went off to college, she moved from Georgia to the backdoor of the Magic Kingdom in Florida. She worked several years at Walt Disney World performing as Fairy Godmother in day parades, the “Best of Disney” castle stage show, and the original Electric Light Parade. For the last ten years, she along with daughter and family, have enjoyed “living the dream” in Celebration (the town that Disney built) just across the bridge from Disney World. During this time she has collaborated with son-in-law Jimmy in several production projects including Orlando Attractions Magazine-The Show, The Mindy Mouse Show and FunaticsTV. Her other career included being a writer, artist/designer, special events creator and coordinator. Now she is enjoying the good life of Anna Maria Island, Celebration, Disney World and, of course, sharing magic at FUNaticsTV!
